Housing Matters partners with individuals and families to create pathways out of their homelessness into permanent housing. As the campus transitions to include a supportive housing development, the need to establish a calm, healing environment for interim shelter guests and Harvey West Studios tenants is evident. 

Housing Matters is evolving our on-campus services to focus on the programs that create pathways out of homelessness, specifically interim shelter and supportive housing.

Mailroom closure guide

  • The Hygiene Bay and the Nook are no longer be available to the public. Loft participants will still be able to access these services. 
  • Mail room services have ceased for the public as well as Loft and Rebele Family Shelter participants.

  • The Welcome Area will be available only to residents and visitors of Harvey West Studios and Casa Azul, shelter program participants, or people who have an appointment with Housing Matters staff.
  • The Safety Kiosk staff will continue to respond to public requests for assistance in emergencies, dispensing Narcan, and provide information about connecting to Housing Matters services.

In order to create conditions for success for the residents Harvey West Studios and our interim shelter guests, Housing Matters is evolving our on-campus services to focus on the programs and strategies that end homelessness —  interim housing and permanent supportive housing.

The Housing Matters team will continue to offer case management, housing navigation, and housing-focused support. The Safety Kiosk staff will continue to respond to public requests for assistance in emergencies, dispensing Narcan, and providing information about connection to case management and other Housing Matters services. 

Yes, we will continue to operate the Loft program and the Rebele Family Shelter on our campus. Live Oak Landing and the Recuperative Care Center will continue to offer interim housing off campus.

The decision is driven by our commitment to proven strategies that end homelessness and our commitment to provide a calm, healing environment for interim shelter guests and Harvey West Studios residents.
