Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Housing Matters is committed to diversity, equity and inclusion, and the advancement of these values within the organization. To this end, we have a staff Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee. The mission of this committee is as follows.

This committee provides insight and recommendations to promote a more equitable, inclusive, and diverse organization. This committee also advocates for policies that address the ways in which staff, volunteers, and participants are impacted by systemic issues. We are here to promote the advancement of individuals regardless of, but not limited to, race, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, or economic status.

In general, the Committee shall make recommendations to the Housing Matters management team with training and policies related to diversity, equity and inclusion for staff, participants, and volunteers. The committee will meet on an as needed basis at the request of the Committee Chair. It is understood that this committee will focus on internal organizational objectives and that all external facing communications or public policy decisions are the purview of the Board of Directors.
