Mark is a thoughtful community advocate whose life has been shaped by movement across countries, cultures, and professions, giving him a deep understanding of resilience, identity, and belonging. With advanced education and experience ranging from multinational systems management to hands-on trades, he brings both practical problem-solving skills and grounded life experience to his work. After experiencing housing instability and homelessness in Santa Cruz, Mark joined the Lived Experience Advisory Group (LEAG) to help challenge stereotypes around homelessness and contribute practical feedback that can strengthen services while preserving dignity and humanity. A devoted father and longtime practitioner of yoga and meditation, he is committed to helping build more compassionate, informed, and connected communities through honest storytelling and meaningful dialogue.
I’ve always tried to belong. To a country, a culture, a language, a role, a spiritual path. I don’t mind being alone, but being alone can at times be lonely. In my 65 years, I’ve taken on many roles, made many decisions and lived a rich and varied life. I can now add the Armory and Homelessness to my list of adventures and labels."
