We are always looking for passionate people to volunteer at Housing Matters. We have a variety of volunteer opportunities available, and are happy to work with you to find the opportunity that is best for you.

We provide orientation and training to all our volunteers, and no previous human services experience is required. Some positions do require specific skills, please see the position description for more information.

Do you have specialized skills not represented in the opportunities below? We’re a full-service organization with a lean administrative team, and we always welcome the skills and support of talented community members. +Kitchen Assistant

The Kitchen Assistant assists cooks in their tasks. Performs other tasks such as assisting in food preparation, storing foods after delivery, and cleaning coolers, freezers, and storerooms. Assists in completing weekly kitchen cleaning and maintenance lists. Helps serve meals to our guests.

+Mail Room Coordinator

The Mail Room Coordinator ensures that the incoming mail is collected, sorted, and distributed to the correct clients quickly and reliably. This position requires diligent volunteers who can sort through hundreds of pieces of mail accurately and efficiently. 10:00am to 2:00pm, Monday through Friday.

+Front Desk and Administrative Assistant

The Front Desk and Admin Assistant performs all duties necessary to ensure an efficient flow in the front office at Housing Matters. They have key interaction with staff, residents and other volunteers and must have the ability to provide the highest level of customer service. This position facilitates all front office duties including, but not limited to, greeting/checking-in residents, answering phones, helping our development department and connecting people with resources. Volunteers in this role must possess organizational, analytical and problem solving skills and excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills. Shift times are flexible.

+Facilities Assistant

The Facilities Assistant supports the facilities team in a variety of tasks as needed. Tasks may include landscaping projects, room turnover assistance, supporting the increased campus disinfecting schedule, small maintenance and handyman projects, and more.
